Just wanted to let mutual friends know that Derick Dahl will be here for a week starting tomorrow morning. You can see his travel blog at:We will be shooting a documentary, seeing the sites, and of course getting into all sorts of trouble.
Next friday, Oct. 24, Derick will be playing a concert on the roof of the institute with a Brazilian guitarist and singer, Daniel Vinicius. They will be playing a fusion of California pop/rock and Brazilian bossa nova/mpb and the event will be filmed as a promo for both the institute and the non-profit organization where Daniel works. We're hoping to not only have a cool event showcasing some mind-bending cross-cultural grooves, but also raise the profile of some of the groups that serve the community of Rocinha.
We are lacking some of the funds to make this event happen, so if any of you are so inclined we would really appreciate a donation of any amount. We only need about $200 dollars!
